‘The Skier’ directed by Fereydoun Najafi has bagged six awards at the 30th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth (IFFCY) in Isfahan.

The movie received six awards at several national and international categories, including the best film Golden Butterfly during the closing ceremony of the IFFCY event on Thursday.

‘The Skier’ is about a boy who faces many problems on his way to take a little ibex to a tribal ritual in a snowy, remote region.

The film, screened in both the international and national competitions, also grabbed the Golden Butterfly for best director.

The Golden Butterfly for the best actor in both national and international sections went to Amir-Reza Faramrzi for his appearance as the boy in ‘The Skier’.

The awards for best film and best director in the national section were presented to the film as well.

The other winners were also honored during a special ceremony attended by Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi-Amiri and a large number of cineastes and children.

The International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults is organized annually by the Farabi Cinema Foundation in affiliation with the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs.

The event celebrates films made for children and youth. It also supports emerging filmmakers with innovative cinematic visions and ideas.

The 30th edition of IFFCY has been held from June 30 to July 6, 2017 in the Iranian city of Isfahan.
